Physics is the study of rules. At a singularity, the rules break. Our equations result in 'infinity,' which is a mathematical way of saying 'we don't know.' It suggests that general relativity is incomplete, and that a deeper theory—quantum gravity—is needed to describe the fabric of reality at this scale. Until then, the singularity remains a locked door at the end of time.
The Big Crunch?
Some theories suggest the universe itself began as a singularity (the Big Bang) and may end as one (the Big Crunch). In this view, the singularity is not just a drain, but a seed. The end of one time may be the beginning of another, looping the narrative of Archive 007 back to the start. Inevitability becomes recurrence.
